What is Messy Cumbria?

Messy Church is a fun way of being church for families. It’s all about being Christ-centred and is focused on there major themes: creativity, hospitality and celebration.

There are already plenty of existing Messy Churches across our county. Messy Cumbria is building on this creating a special one-stop shop providing county-wide support, networking opportunities and resources to help existing Messy Churches flourish and new ones grow.

You will find a growing range of resources on these pages to help connect at a local level so that we can create a Messy county.

Messy Updates for 2018

Messy Cumbria is now officially one year old!  it’s hard to believe that only one year has passed since over 80 leaders gathered for the launch of Messy Cumbria as part of the Messy training day in November 2016. Since then Cumbria has gained a regional coordinator – Melanie Beaven (North Cumbria), to share the load with the fantastic Syl Hunt (rest of Cumbria!) We’ve been Messy in the cathedral during Thy Kingdom Come prayer week in May, gathered at Rydal in July for the first Messy Cumbria outdoors. Marvin the Messy Cumbria mascot has visited several Cumbrian Messy churches, & kept a diary of his experiences! We’ve seen eight new Messy churches start around the county and are now gearing up for Cumbria’s largest Messy Church at Rheged on Sunday 11th March 2018.
