The aim of God for All is to give everyone in Cumbria the opportunity to know more of God and His purpose in their lives and for Christians to grow in faith, worship and discipleship – living their lives for God and with God.
If this is to be achieved there needs to be a renewed focus on mission and outreach. By extension, it means that the way current and future resources are used needs to change too.
Through Mission and Outreach is the responsibility of every Christian, every church and every church leader and minister. It means looking to strengthen our existing patterns of church life and witness as Christians as well as developing new ways and pioneering styles of church and of Christian witness and engagement.
That Reach strategy can be broken down into five key areas:
- MeReach – the encouragement of individual Christians in their witness
- InReach – helping churches make their life and programme attractive and accessible
- OutReach – fresh expressions, community engagement, going out from church
- BigReach – Cumbria-wide initiatives to intrigue people about the possibility of God
This will be enabled in two main ways; through the creation of new jobs specifically aimed at evangelism and fresh expressions and the promotion of the possibility of God in different ways. A new Reach Group will be created to enable all this. It is envisaged that the Reach Group will be set up by September 2015 and will provide cross-county support to promote opportunities for everyone to discover more of God in their lives.
